The bottom line…

What you’ll pay depends on the type of work you need. Writing costs more than editing, and “editing” can mean anything from copy editing for typographical errors (lower cost) to line editing, which addresses things like sentence structure, clarity and word choice (higher cost). See this article for a bit more explanation of editing types. Other factors include the size and complexity of the project, the level of academic expertise needed by the editor, and deadline requirements.

I usually charge $40 an hour for basic copy editing, $50 an hour for line editing + copy editing, and $60–$70 an hour for writing (which includes research, interviews, etc.) We can also work out a per-word or per-project flat rate if you prefer. Initial consultations are always free, and I’m happy to do some free “tryout” work before we commit to a larger project.

I accept checks made out to “Watusi Words” and PayPal payment sent to lincolnsquirrelnews@gmail.com.

Let’s chat about what you need and how I can help. Please feel free to call or email any time!
